Ruti de Vries in a group show, Galerie PCP, Paris

We are excited to announce that Ruti de Vries is participating in a new group show, ‘System Failure’ at Galerie PCP Paris, opening 9 October 2020, curator Noam. De Vries will show two sculptures ‘Face down’ and ‘Guerilla’ both made of onetime paint suite, and one textile work.

De Vries’ work often deals with body postures, exploring the human and animal body relations and construction. These two works express the motive of the shield in her work which comes from the inside of the sculpture, alluding to the essence of the shield as holding the body of the creature, holding the balance of an object, referring to its weight and object - ground relation.

In her ‘flimsy’ artistic way, de Vries is creating objects are if they are about to fall while enhancing the tension between the abstract form and the figurative aspect, reflecting on the material in its initial and ‘natural’ form.
